Just Do It and Be Blessed!
Recently I was involved in a group discussion about how each of us had been blessed in the last year. There were many encouraging blessings shared, but this one really struck me. One gentleman shared that, in the last year, he and his wife had felt a calling to teach a Sunday School class. As the call grew stronger, all of the many usual excuses began to come to front. "There is too much time involved in teaching." "We would have to deal with all these people and their problems." "I don't know enough about the Bible to teach a class." As each excuse came to front, he shared that God's Holy Spirit defeated the excuse. "You have time for what's important to you! Everyone has issues, and you can be a great encourager and perhaps even share your own burden. Maybe you'll learn more about your faith and Scripture." Finally, after the Holy Spirit had defeated all their excuses, they agreed to take on the class. This man shared that this past year had been a great one for both his wife and him. He shared that the challenge of teaching had been an enriching and encouraging experience for them. In fact, he shared that the experience of teaching a class had been one of their greatest spiritual blessings ever!
What an amazing testimony of blessing! To think that a man and his wife, who are 77 years old, could experience this great blessing at this stage in their life is wonderful. God is so good! He said their class of 1st & 2nd graders had challenged them in some of the most unusual ways. Their life was richer from this Spirit-led experience. What is God calling you to do it? Would you put aside all of the excuses and trust a loving and equipping God for a blessing in 2019! He'll do it! "And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." 2 Corinthians 9:8
Be blessed in the new year, and find a way to serve!
